Mint Chocolate Bliss Balls

It's Easter week and I'm looking forward to stuffing my face with delicious treats. To me Easter is besides all the chocolate a celebration for the arrival of Spring.

Speaking of treats, does anyone else out there love mint chocolate? It's my absolute favourite. If there was only one sweet thing I could eat for the rest of my life mint chocolate would be my pick.

I've had a bottle of organic peppermint extract waiting to be used in my kitchen pantry since December and I finally decided it was time to put it to use. In what better way than adding it to chocolate bliss balls? That's how a healthy treat with the best flavour combo was born. Today's recipe really hits the spot. You're welcome.

Mint Chocolate Bliss Balls

VEGAN ● RAW ● NUT FREE ● GLUTEN FREE ● TOTAL TIME: 20 MINUTES ● SERVINGS: 24


500 g pitted dates

1.3 cups shredded coconut

2 heaped tbsp raw cacao

0.5 tsp organic peppermint extract

(or less if you don't like strong mint)

pinch of vanilla powder

0.25-0.5 cup water (add as you go)


  1. Add the dates, coconut, cacao, mint and vanilla into a blender or food processor.

  2. Start by adding in less than half a cup of water.

  3. Blend everything into a thick paste.

  4. Have a look if more water is needed and keep on blending.

  5. When the paste is thick and smooth move it into a bowl and let set in the frige for a few moments.

  6. Roll small balls out of the bliss ball mixture.

  7. If you want to decorate your bliss balls you can roll them in cacao nibs or shredded coconut (optional)

  8. Store the balls in the fridge or freeze for later snacking.

  9. Enjoy a few with a hot cup of tea!
